Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade firmed on Thursday on a bounce after the price slide on Wednesday, supported by the strength in wheat, traders said.
CBOT corn futures were 2 to 4 cents per bushel higher by 11:50 a.m. CDT (1650 GMT). September was up 3 at $2.28-1/2 and new-crop December was up 3-1/2 at $2.39-3/4.
Wheat futures were gaining on corn, up 4 to 5 cents, on supportive export data released by USDA before the open.
US Midwest corn basis bids were steady early Thursday, dealers said.
CBOT oat futures were 4-1/4 to 6-1/2 cents per bushel higher, with September up 6-1/2 at $1.37-1/4, after buy-stops were triggered early in the session. Concerns about crop damage to Canadian oats amid forecasts for cold temperatures overnight were supportive, traders said. Canadian crops were already behind development due to a cool summer.
