Production target of cotton will be achieved during current financial year if the crop remains protected from pests attack during the next one month.
Pakistan Central Cotton Committee (PCCC) vice-president Ibad Badar Siddiqui said while talking to a private TV network on Thursday.
He said that production target of 10.7 million cotton bales was set for 2004-05, while the last year target was 10.2 million bales, he said.
"It is hoped that a record production of cotton will be achieved during this year if the crop is protected 'from insects' attack for one month," he added.
Ibad Badar informed that cultivation area for cotton crop in Punjab and Sindh has been increased by 6 and 9 percent, respectively, during the current financial year.
