Polling on Shaukat's vacant seat in Senate on September 14

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) former Chief Justice Irshad Hassan Khan on Saturday announced schedule for by-election on the Senate seat vacated by Prime Minister-designate Shaukat Aziz.
The CEC also announced dates for filing of nomination papers by candidates, the scrutiny of nomination papers, last date for withdrawal of candidature and for taking of the poll.
According to schedule, public notice by the returning officer for inviting nomination papers by candidates will be issued on August 23 and dates for filing of nomination papers by the candidates with the returning officer has been set for August 26 to 28.Scrutiny of nomination papers will be made on August 30 while appeals against rejection of nomination papers will be filed by September 2.
Disposal of appeals will be made by September 4 as the last date for withdrawal of candidature has been set for September 6.
Publication of list of contenting candidates will be issued on September 7 and polling will be held on September 14 at the Punjab Assembly.
