Punjab government has formulated a strategy for the promotion of industrial sector and to accommodate foreign investors and overseas Pakistanis in the province.
Official sources told Business Recorder here on Saturday that the provincial government was making hectic efforts to bring about industrial revolution and to further speed up the export activities in the province.
The purpose of this programme is to establish maximum new industries, including agro-based industries, for enlarging employment scope for the educated and skilled jobless persons in the province.
Under this plan the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) would develop model small industrial estates at each district headquarters.
These small industrial estates would be developed under 'Self-Finance' scheme and the proposed industrial estates would have metalled roads, sewerage disposal, and water supply, while other facilities like electricity, gas, telephone etc would also be provided with the co-operation of concerned departments.
At present 480 industrial plots are available in small industrial estates of Jehlum, Gujar Khan, Chakwal, Taxila, Daska, Kusur, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Khanewal, Mian Channu and Gujranwala-II for allotment to overseas Pakistanis and foreign investors who intend to invest in Pakistan.
