Lahore High Court (LHC) has restrained the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) from announcing the results of examination of Chief Dental Surgeon till the decision of review application filed by petitioner Dr Shahid Mehmood.
The petitioner has approached the court against cancellation of call letter, as he was already terminated from service on the charge of absence from duty while serving as Assistant Professor in Dental Collage.
The petitioner's counsel, Amjad Aftab Malik, contended that he had already challenged his termination before the Service Tribunal and the matter is still pending. He contended that the respondent ignoring the court proceedings cancelled his call letter and declared him disqualified for the post of Chief Dental Surgeon.
The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel at length, observed that the petitioner has alternative remedy for review under the rules and regulations. However, in the interest of justice and fair play the petitioner is directed to appear before the respondent- Secretary Health Punjab- in his office, who is directed to decide the review application of the petitioner strictly in accordance with the law either himself or send the same to a competent authority for its disposal.
The court also directed the respondent to submit his report to the Deputy Registrar of the court within stipulated period.
