New passports to be issued from September 15

22 Aug, 2004

The government would start issuing Machine Readable Passports (MRP) from September 15, this year.
The National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) has been entrusted the task of issuing new passports, official sources said here on Saturday.
The appropriate safeguards have been put in new passports to make them more secure and advanced.
About issuance procedure, the sources said the documents including original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and B-Form, in case of children and original passport fee deposit slip, would be required.
At present, the old passports would be valid, however, a deadline would be given for their cancellation.
