Need for a hospital

22 Aug, 2004

This refer to Dr Saleemullah's proposal for setting up a modern hospital on an area, where the old 'Sabzi Mandi' once existed. The proposed hospital, I am sure, will cater to the needs of a large number of patients living in the areas listed by him.
In the absence of a government hospital in the area, patients in emergency have to rush to hospitals like JPMC, NICVD, Civil Hospital and Abbassi Shaheed Hospital, which are quite remote from the area he has mentioned in his letter.
The proposed hospital will reduce the distance and traffic accidents and other critically-ill patients would be able to reach well in time for medicare. Thus loss of life and time could appreciably be reduced.
The governor and the Chief Minister of Sindh may kindly get the proposal examined for its feasibility, as it is in the larger public interest. I hope, besides, that the government of Sindh, and many other philanthropists, who are actively working in the health care of the public sector, would lend their help to establish the proposed hospital at the old 'Sabzi Mandi,' Karachi.
