Security was tightened at the Bait-uz-Zikr (worship place) and residences of Qadianis in Multan division following the murder of Barkatullah Mangla, advocate (62) in cantonment area of Sargodha.
Two young motorcyclists of 22-24-year of age reached the residence of Advocate Barkatullah, at Jafaria Colony in Sargodha, some 170 miles north of Multan on Sunday, and pushed the call bell. As soon as he appeared on the door to see the visitors, they opened the fire resultantly he died on the spot. They ran away after confirmation of the death of the lawyer.
"We have instituted a murder case against unidentified assailants on the report of Fakharullah son of the deceased, and an investigation was under way to track down the killers. I am confident that it is a religious killing", said DIG Sargodha Fayyaz Ahmed Mir.
Humaira, the daughter of the deceased, said: "We have no enmity with anyone nor land or property dispute and assassination of her father is an outcome of religious rivalry."
The Jamaat Ahmadia Pakistan has strongly condemned the assassination of a senior lawyer in Sargodha, describing it an act of terrorism. It said the sense of insecurity was developing among the Qadiani minority in Pakistan.
