Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmed has said that Islam is the religion of peace and brotherhood, and Pakistanis living abroad are the ambassador of Islam.
He was addressing a big gathering of Pakistani community at Oslo in Norway late Sunday, according to a JI press release issued here on Monday.
Lord Nazeer Ahmed, member House of Lords, UK, the chairman Kashmir Committee in the Norwegian parliament, and senior officials of the Islamic Culture Centre, Norway, also addressed the gathering.
Qazi Hussain Ahmed urged Muslims the world over to be true representatives of Islam, saying to conduct themselves with dignity and honour, and give rights to women as directed in Islam.
He said that Islam stands for peace, and remarked that the term 'terrorism' could be used both for individuals as well as for states which tried to oppress weaker nations.
He said Muslims the world over should join forces against terrorists, whether these are individuals, groups or states.
In this world of conflicts and contradictions, the JI Ameer remarked the human psyche longs for moral and spiritual moorings, which only Islam can provide.
Lord Nazeer, in his address, urged European governments to ensure equal rights, Muslim living in these countries as their citizens.
