The general congregation of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) to be held at Minar-e-Pakistan Lahore from October 1-3 was aimed to strengthen democracy, said JI Deputy Secretary General Punjab Rao Zafar Iqbal here on Monday.
Addressing a press conference in his party office, the JI leader said the Jamaat assembly would be addressed by the heads of component parties of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) including JI Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmed and leaders of other religious organisations from Pakistan and abroad.
He said divisional co-ordinators for the congregation had been appointed. The JI leader said that the Central Secretary General JI Mian Maqsood Ahmed would be the co-ordinator for the congregation at Lahore.
