Pakistan is expected to start the export of some food items, including orange and rice, to China from the next year, said an official of the Pakistan Embassy here.
Talking to newsmen, Pakistan Ambassador Riaz Mohammad Khan said: "We have already applied to seek permission and the quarantine certificates from the Chinese government to start the export.
"The potential for the sale of Pakistani horticulture products in the local market was very rich. We received very encouraging response for marketing of Pakistani mango during the month long promotion campaign," the official added.
Addressing a mango' promotion campaign ceremony, Riaz hoped that Pakistan would export a big quantity of mangoes to China from next season.
"We have made an initial breakthrough to introduce the food products in the local market," he added.
Riaz said: "We expect the Pakistani mango, known world-wide for their rich taste, flavour and fragrance, will also be received well by the Chinese consumers."
