Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that the provincial government is making all out efforts to provide quality Atta at cheaper rates to the people, and a comprehensive strategy has also been evolved for further reducing the rates of Atta.
He said foolproof arrangements have been made to provide inexpensive Atta to the people, besides ensuring better rates of produce to the wheat-growers.
The chief minister was talking to a delegation of Flourmills Associations, led by its central office-bearer, Haji Muhammad Bashir here on Monday.
He urged the flourmills to ensure quality Atta at cheaper rates to extend its benefit to the general public.
He maintained that Atta is a basic need for citizens, therefore, all administrative measures are being undertaken in this regard. He directed the food department to clear the dues of "Ramazan Package" payable by the government to the floor mills.
He also said that the arrears of "Sasta Atta Scheme" are also being paid to the flourmills.
The chief minister impressed upon the delegation of flourmills to remove hurdles, if any, in provision of Atta to the people. He assured that the problems relating to banks being faced by flourmills would be resolved with the support of federal government.
The delegation of flourmills association included Muhammad Khaliq Arshad, Haji Muhammad Abdullah, Salah-ud-Din, Sajid Abdullah, Chaudhry Afzal, and others.
