Two under-custody men were burnt mysteriously in the lock-up of Gizri police station on Monday morning. They had suffered 75 percent burns and were struggling for their lives in Civil Hospital.
According to police, Amirzada and Saleem Khan were picked up by police four days ago from outside Carlton Hotel in DHA; and claimed that a stolen car and two TT pistols had been recovered from them.
After their arrest they were remanded in police custody for 14 days by a local court.
On Monday morning they were brought to Civil Hospital with severe burn injuries. In the hospital they were shouting that policemen had poured petrol on them and set them afire. They had also denied the police story and said that they were picked up from their houses after they had a quarrel with an Assistant Sub-inspector of police.
The MLO also suspected that petrol was poured on them and they had received 75 percent burn injuries, surprisingly that no policemen present at the lock-up dared to save them while they were being burnt. However, police claimed that they had burnt themselves.
High ups of the police department said a judicial enquiry had been ordered to investigate the matter.
