KBCA asked to submit report against corrupt officials

Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday directed Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) to submit report that what action was taken against its officials who are involved in the corrupt practices.
SHC's division bench comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Maqbool Baqar was hearing the petition of Shafqat Hussain against demolition of illegal constructed building in Mithadar area Karachi.
On previous hearing, the court observed that despite judgement passed by SHC on November 17, 1996 in respect of illegal constructed building nothing appear to have been done and on contrary builder was allowed to construct further.
A direction was also given to hold an inquiry and to take action against officers of KBCA with whose connivance said illegality was committed. On August last year, the Chief Controller of KBCA personally appeared before court and undertook that action will be taken within two months and court to be explained the compliance of undertaking.
Today when the matter was taken up, Shahid Jameel advocate for KBCA requested for further time to submit compliance report showing further progress in the matter after June 4, 2004.
The court directing KBCA to submit the report regarding action against the officials involved in corrupt practices fixed the matter for date to be fixed by office.
