Soomro to take up Senate panels issue with Prime Minister

Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro on Tuesday assured the House of taking up the matter pertaining to attitude of some ministers to Senate standing committees with the prime minister.
Responding to a number of points of order raised by Senators, Ayaz Khan Mandokhel, Raza Rabbani, and Mohammad Akram Wali, Soomro said: "I will discuss it with the prime minister and inform the House."
Earlier, the Senate standing committee chairman on interior, Senator Ayaz Khan Mandokhel, informed the House that the interior minister is not giving proper time and attention to the committee.
The Senate Standing committee chairman on industries, Mohammad Akram Wali, said the minister concerned has not attended even a single meeting of the committee. Senator Raza Rabbani said this is a serious matter and it has breached privilege of the House. He proposed to refer the matter to the Committee of Rules and Privileges for consideration.
Leader of the House, Waseem Sajjad suggested that the chairman should call parties concerned to settle the issue amicably.
Senators Ms Roshan Khurshed Brocha and Dr Waseem Shahzad informed the House that the attitude of most of the ministers has been exemplary with the members of the committee.
