30 Aug, 2004

Women are fully prepared to focus on the abrogation of Hadood Ordinance after their successful crusade against Karo-kari in Pakistan, said Ms Raheela Tiwana, deputy speaker Sindh Assembly.
Addressing a press conference at the Circuit House here on Saturday night, she paid tribute to the vision and acumen of President General Pervez Musharraf and said that his pragmatic policies gave courage to the women to raise voice for their legitimate rights.
The women, she said, were also involved in the process of decision making at the national, provincial, district and local level.
About law and order situation in Sindh, she said: "It is very difficult to maintain law and order in multi-national centres like Karachi. However, the situation is fully under control due to the viable policies of President Musharraf and practical efforts of the elected Sindh government."
