The Pakistan Workers Confederation (PWC), Punjab, has announced to hold a national conference on September 15 to discuss various issues relating to labour laws, economic and social rights of working class, unemployment and price-hike issues.
The decision to hold the conference was taken at a meeting of the Confederation, which was held here at the Bakhtiar Labour Hall on Sunday with PWC (Punjab chapter) President Chaudhry Gulzar Ahmed in the chair. PWC Secretary-General Khurshid Ahmed and a number of workers belonging to various labour organisations also attended the meeting.
The meeting also demanded that new Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz should take concrete measures to resolve the problems faced by the working class.
The participants also called for taking the corrupt elements, plunders and looters of national wealth to task. The meeting also urged the prime minister to evolve a comprehensive strategy to control the inflation and price-hike.
Moreover, the meeting condemned brutal use of force by US-led coalition forces against the innocent Iraqi people, atrocities being perpetrated by Indian troops on Kashmiris and genocide of Palestinians at the hands of Israel.
