US Stocks: Wednesday's unofficial close

02 Sep, 2004

US tech stocks rose Wednesday as a rebound in shares of Intel Corp helped pull the Nasdaq higher and investor confidence gained ground as security concerns eased as the Republican Convention in New York winds down.
Intel shares rose after dropping to a 14-month low on Tuesday. Analysts had warned the technology bellwether may lower its revenue forecast when it releases its mid-quarter business update on Thursday.
The Dow Jones industrials were up 11.50 points, or 0.11 percent, at 10,185.30, while the Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 2.65 points, or 0.24 percent, at 1,106.89. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index rose 14.70 points, or 0.80 percent, at 1,852.80.
