National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has issued 829,531 National Identity Cards (NICs) to Pakistani nationals living in different foreign countries.
According to Nadra sources here, the total cards issued also include those issued to overseas Pakistanis in England by its (Nadra) Swift Registration Centres (NSRCs) there.
To facilitate the overseas Pakistanis in obtaining their NICs and Pakistan Origin Cards (POC) conveniently, Nadra established Swift Registration Centres in UK last month, which has largely been hailed by the Pakistanis.
The Authority plans the opening of such centres in other countries and cities abroad where large number of Pakistanis are living.
Since opening of NSRCs in UK, Nadra has received total 1465 applications for National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) and POC.
The Nadra said the submission of applications is gaining momentum as with the passage of time and people are becoming more aware to facilities being offered to them.
The Nadra has also provided overseas Pakistanis with the option of submission of application for their NICOP and POC at any of the NSRCs in Pakistan, while being here on vacations or visit for any other purpose.
Their request for delivery of their NICOP and POC at any address in Pakistan or abroad is also allowed.
Till to date, the Authority has received a total 888,368 applications for NICOP, out of which 829,531 cards had already been issued. Similarly, the Nadra has issued 34,904 Pakistan Origin Cards (POC) out of the total 35,604 applications received so far.
