Chambers and associations throughout the country have geared up their activities to complete elections of the new office-bearers for the year 2004-05.
Since the process has to be completed by September 30, electioneering is gaining momentum with different groups promoting their candidates raising usual cliches, promising end to the problems faced either individually or collectively relating to the concerned trade body.
Among the associations, Travel Agents Association of Pakistan (Taap) is one of the first to announce its election schedule according to which polling to elect the executive committee members will be held on September 22 and the results will be announced the same day after completion of counting of votes which will start at 2 pm.
On September 23 a meeting of the members elect will be held to elect from amongst themselves a Regional Chairman in each region. On September 28 meeting of members elect will be held from both Region 'A' and Region 'B' to elect from amongst themselves a Chairman and a Vice-Chairman, according to the election schedule announced by the Secretary General TAAP, Syed Mahmood Hussain,.
The 27th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association will be held in the afternoon of September 28 to adopt the annual report 2003-04 and approve the audited annual accounts for the period from July 1, 2002 to June 30, 2003 and July 1 2003 to June 30, 2004.
The AGM will receive election results 2004-05 and to install the new office-bearers.
