Punjab Minister for Health Dr Tahir Ali Javed said that hospital waste was the major cause of spreading infectious and fatal diseases, however, the present government has decided to install incinerators at all the government hospitals, in phases.
While inaugurating a workshop on Hospital Waste Management for Medical Superintendents of public sector hospitals in Lahore at Children Hospital here on Thursday, he said the government has approved new designs of DHQs.
He said that incinerator installed at the Children Hospital has the capacity to dispose of the hospital waste of all public sector hospitals of the city effectively.
He directed the medical superintendents regarding the compulsory use of disposable gloves by doctors/nurses and paramedics in emergency wards.
The medical superintendents should visit the respective emergency wards thrice a day to observe the implementation of government directives in emergency wards, he concluded.
Earlier, the minister, addressing medal-awarding ceremony at school of nursing, said that serving to ailing humanity is a noble job.
Nurses and paramedical staff have a vital role in providing basic health facilities to the people at the grassroots level, therefore, the nurses and paramedical staff should perform their duties with dedication, devotion, zeal and zest.
Minister for Special Education Qudsia Lodhi, MS Waheed Rathor, Deputy Dean Shaukat Mehmood, DG, Nursing and Project Director were also present besides others.
