HEC announces fellowships in linguistics

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced 40 fellowships in the discipline of English for academic year 2004-05.
This was disclosed here on Saturday in a meeting of National Committee on English, recently established by the HEC.
The fellowships would be available to English teachers of public sector universities and degree colleges of Pakistan, said a press release. According to the decision, 10 fellowships would be awarded in linguistics to study at Karachi University, 10 fellowships for Masters in TEFL at Allama Iqbal Open University, 10 fellowships for Masters in ELT from Kennard College and 10 fellowships for Masters in Linguistics at National University of Modern Languages Islamabad to in-service teachers of English.
The National Committee on English was constituted by the HEC to upgrade the capability of English teachers in the country by equipping them with most teaching and instructional skills to bring them at par with international standards.
