Sindh Finance and Co-operation Department has directed that quarterly returns of pending pension and GP fund cases with details/justification thereon along with correct GP fund account numbers in each case be sent to this department/committee within a month of the expiry of quarters ending on March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31 respectively.
According to the directive, it is considered essential for expeditious finalisation of such cases.
The directive said pending pension, GP fund cases should be furnished to the GP Fund and Pension Committee so that the same may be discussed/decided accordingly.
The Finance Department said in case there is no pension or GP fund cases pending, a report be sent to this committee by the expiry of quarter without fail.
The department issued the directive following instances which came to the notice of Pension Cases Disposal Committee that the quarterly returns of pending pension and GP fund cases of retired/expired civil servants are not being initiated timely by the pension sanctioning authorities.
As a result, complaints from poor widows, orphans and old retired civil servants were increasing.
In this context, the Finance Department asked for a list of pension sanctioning authorities along with strict compliance in future of the directives issued.
The directive said that while submitting the quarterly returns at least five copies be sent to this committee and one copy each to the Accountant General Sindh Karachi and to District Accounts Officer concerned.
