Teachers advised to keep themselves update

The teachers should not confine themselves to teaching the syllabus only and but also keep themselves update in their respective disciplines with the help of technology.
This was stated by the vice chancellor of Karachi University, Professor Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui.
He was delivering presidential address at the certificate distribution ceremony of the four-day workshop held at the Arts Auditorium, says a statement on Sunday.
It said that the moot was organised by the Department of Botany, University of Karachi, in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
The vice-chancellor pointed out that in this modern age the updating of research and teaching has become possible with the help of technology.
He said that the students who are desirous of seeking further knowledge can get benefit of internet.
At the four-day workshop the significance of the research based acquisition of knowledge and teaching was highlighted. The benefit from the research and teaching at the universities abroad, was also described as a good beginning.
Professor Pirzada also urged the teachers to fully play their role in the society.
The Dean of Karachi University's Faculty of Science, Professor Dr Mohammad Qaiser, who was also the workshop co-ordinator, thanked the Core Group of Life Science of the HEC for extending its co-operation.
He was optimistic that the moot would help foster the interest in research as far as the students are concerned.
The Chairman of the Department of Botany, University of Karachi. Dr Shahid Shaukat, announced that the next workshop would be held later this year.
