Message from Chief of the Air Staff

06 Sep, 2004

Our, armed forces, whenever called upon to defend their national integrity and solidarity, have always displayed courage, valour and professionalism. When the hour of trial arrived on 6th September, thirty-nine years ago, the enemy found our entire nation ready to respond.
For their compatriots in uniform it was an opportunity to challenge the enemy hordes with resolve. Our soldiers, sailors and airmen displayed such bravery and professionalism that the spirit of September '65 have since become an ultimate measure of our combat motivation.
For PAF's Shaheens, it was an opportunity to prove their mettle in the air. They intercepted the enemy aircraft and routed the intruding air force from our air space within three days of the battle, thus allowing Pak Army greater freedom of action.
What the PAF lacked in equipment was always made good by its intense training, superior skill, resolute courage, inspiring leadership and, above all, an unshakeable faith in its glorious cause.
Many sacrificed their lives for the honour and glory of the nation. We recall with pride and admiration the heroic deeds of our Shaheeds and Ghazis who wrote an inspiring saga of courage and bravery in the skies of Indo-Pakistan.
We pay our special respect to those who are no longer with us to share their tales of glory. To them and to their brave families we owe an abiding debt of gratitude and reverence.
We cannot pay a better homage to our war heroes than by following their example and displaying the same sterling qualities of courage and sacrifice. Success in the vocation of arms is paved with devotion and single-minded pursuit of professional excellence.
Pakistan Air Force is fully committed to ensure the defence of our national air space. Focused efforts are on at all levels to conserve our critical inventories and draw the best from the available resources.
We are also in the process of inducting new fighter aircraft and equipment to augment our capabilities. By the grace of Allah, our officers, airmen and civilians are fully alive to the demand of their calling.
Our air warriors will not be found wanting whenever they are called upon to guard our aerial frontiers.
May Allah grant us the strength and vision to fulfill our obligations to the nation to the best of our abilities and in line with the expectations of the people of Pakistan! Aameen.
Pakistan Zindabad!, Pakistan Air Force Paindabad!
