08 Sep, 2004

Greenstar Social Marketing Pakistan and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Bank on Tuesday signed an agreement to facilitate the doctors who wish to upgrade their healthcare facilities.
Imran Zafar, CEO of Greenstar Social Marketing, and Tariq Khan Baloch, Senior Vice-President of the SME Bank, signed the agreement and suggested to the intending doctors to avail the facility which would be available on easy terms.
The SME Bank would provide small to medium size loans ranging between Rs 50,000 and Rs 300,000 to GreenStar-certified MBBS doctors (GS-1 and GS-2) on easy repayment terms. The monthly instalment schedule has been spread over from 103 years.
Zafar said that the main objective for this arrangement would be to support Greenstar health providers to provide quality healthcare facilities to their clients.
He said that most of the doctors, running their private clinics in undeserved communities, are faced with high cost of equipment and therefore are unable to upgrade their clinics.
He said that the agreement would cater to the needs of such doctors who are registered with Greenstar Social Marketing and need financial support for improvement in their facilities.
The loan so extended would be on low mark-up and on such terms and conditions which would not put doctors in hardship.
Tariq said that the Bank has ensured easy procedure for doctors of Greenstar network so that they are not deterred by lengthy paperwork normally required for loan finalisation.
Greenstar has a network of 13,000 clinics countrywide. It also undertakes training of healthcare providers in such areas as counselling skills and infection prevention. Providers are supplied with international quality products at subsidised prices.
