08 Sep, 2004

The Punjab University (PU) vice chancellor (VC) Arshad Mahmood has said "we should try to follow the rules enunciated by the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBHU) and also make efforts to spruce up the image of Muslims."
He said this while addressing a Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) Conference at Faisal Auditorium on Tuesday.
Arshad maintained it was need of the hour to conform our lives to the Islamic teachings so that we could be successful in that worldly life and the hereafter. He said Islam was not just a religion but also a complete code of conduct and life of Holy Prophet (PBUH) guides us in every field of life and teaches to shun all caste, ethnic and linguistic differences.
He further said aversion to seeking knowledge as ordained in the Holy Qur'an is the biggest problem facing the Muslim Ummah and this challenge can be countered by practising the rules set by Holy Prophet (PBUH).
PU Registrar Colonel (Masood ul Haq (R), PU Mosques Department Chairman Professor Dr Akram Chaudhry and Professor Maulana Sarfraz Ahmad Awan also spoke on the occasion.
