Bangladesh to import dates from Pakistan

08 Sep, 2004

The Pakistani exporters and Bangladeshi importers are expected to sign an agreement for supply of date to Bangladesh before the start of Holy month of Ramazan.
The talks in this respect were held here during two-day Pakistan dates exhibition in Dhaka organised by Pakistan Export Promotion Bureau.
The date exhibition was held at a local hotel on September 5 and 6.
Bangladesh Commerce Minister Air Vice Marshal Altaf Hossain Chowdhury (Retd) had inaugurated the exhibition.
About 16 date-exporters from Pakistan took part in the exhibition.
The Pakistani exporters were taken to Badam Talli, the main hub of fruits business in Bangladesh and introduced to Bangladeshi importers, distributors, management of supper stores, traders, etc.
Both the parties held extensive talks how to expedite the easy transhipments of Pakistani dates to Bangladesh before the month of Ramazan.
About 10 to 15 containers of dates from Pakistan would be supplied to Bangladesh.
