Punjab chief minister lauds Jica's help for social sector uplift

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said international agencies were extending the fullest co-operation to quicken the pace of social sector development in the province and Japanese International Agency for Economic Co-operation (Jica) has been playing a significant role in the projects of sewerage, sanitation, water supply and repair of barrages.
He was talking to a delegation of Jica led by its President Takao Kawa Kami at Chief Minister's House here on Thursday.
Chief Secretary Punjab Kamran Rasool, Chairman Planning & Development Salman Ghani, Secretary Finance Salman Siddique and Secretary Communication Sibtain Fazal Haleem were also present.
The chief minister said government was paying due attention to human resource development as the aim of development of social institution could not be achieved without optimal utilisation of human energies. He said efforts were also being made for improving standard of training in all sectors so that maximum number of experts could be made available for accelerating the pace of progress.
He stressed upon the delegation to extend the scope of its corporation to the sectors of IT, TB control programme and improvement of irrigation system.
Chairman P&D, Salman Ghani gave a briefing to the delegation regarding ongoing development projects in the province while Secretary Finance, Salman Siddique highlighted various aspects of resources management policy of chief minister Punjab. Secretary C&W informed the delegation about ongoing development programmes in Punjab.
