11 Sep, 2004

Federal government has formulated a line of action for carrying out rehabilitation work of the existing industrial estates in the country. The work on the programme would be carried out in the near future.
Official sources told Business Recorder here on Friday that under the programme, the federal government would collaborate with provincial, district, city governments and private sector stakeholders in rehabilitating the infra-structure of the existing industrial estates of the country.
The federal government will contribute up to 50 percent of the cost of such rehabilitation work and this will be conditional upon the provinces contributing 25 percent, district governments 10 percent while users would contribute 15 percent under the industrial estates rehabilitation programme.
The step was being taken for improving the overall condition of all the existing industrial estates aimed at ensuring better facilities to the business community, sources added.
In addition to this, the federal government will contribute 75 percent of the cost for establishment of combined effluent treatment plants in the existing industrial estates.
The remaining 25 percent would be shared by provincial, district governments and stakeholders. The step was being taken to enable the business community to fulfil the requirements of their foreign buyers as well as to minimise the pollution load in the industrial estates, sources added.
