Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday said that Pakistan Muslim League (PML), as the founding party of the country, has always played a central role in strengthening democracy in Pakistan. Talking to PML President Shujaat Husain at his residence the Prime Minister said the present government is following the 'Charter' of the Muslim League to promote democracy and strengthen democratic institutions in the country.
The Prime Minister said a balanced and an efficient Cabinet has been formed which represents all segments of the country,.
He said that all ministers and ministers of state have been given clear targets and they have been asked to focus on achieving results and ensure result-oriented performance, he added.
The Prime Minister said that all ministries have been directed to give their policies and proposals for the first 100 days, after which their performances would be evaluated.
He said that steps would be taken to resolve problems and deficiencies during this period to expedite the process of development.
Shaukat said that his government's sole objective is to ensure welfare and improve the living standard of the common man and make Pakistan an economically strong and viable state.
Shujaat expressed full satisfaction over the completion of the process of Cabinet formation. He expressed hope that all Ministers and Ministers of State would discharge their responsibilities and duties with devotion and dedication in line with the people's aspirations. He assured the PM to extend support and guidance to the government.
He said that as PML President he, along with the PML and the allied parties, would play the role in helping the government achieve its set targets and strengthen the democratic institutions on strong lines.
