PML President and former Prime Minister, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said on Saturday that erecting of fence along the Line of Control by India was creating doubts in the minds of the people of the two countries.
"Pak-India talks have generated a hope of peace in the region, and in this situation, any step, which may harm or interrupt the process of dialogue, should be avoided," Shujaat observed while talking to Indian High Commissioner, Shiv Shankar Menon, who called on him here.
PML Secretary General, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed was also present in the meeting.
The PML President apprised the Indian High Commissioner of the doubts and apprehensions of the people and the parliamentarians emerging due to the fencing of LoC.
The Indian High Commissioner in response not only presented his country's point of view on this issue but also assured that it would not create any hurdle in the on-going talks between the two countries.
He also reiterated the viewpoint of Indian Foreign Minister, Natwar Singh, who had stated that it was for the first time in 40 years that the two countries have held serious talks.
Menon also extended an invitation to Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain from the ruling Congress Party's Chief, Sonia Gandhi to visit India. Shujaat said he would visit India along with a PML delegation after Ramazan.
