Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will leave for Tajikistan on Monday to represent Pakistan at the 8th Summit meeting of the Economic Co-operation Organisation (ECO).
During his two-day visit (September 13-14), Riaz Khokhar, Foreign Secretary, will accompany him.
It is learnt that the Prime Minister will address the Summit on September 14 and attend a lunch hosted by President Emomali Rahmanov.
The Prime Minister would also hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of Turkey, Iran and Central Asian Republics.
The ECO leaders will review implementation of decisions taken at the 7th ECO Summit held in Istanbul in October 2002. They will discuss measures to further strengthen and promote regional co-operation with special emphasis on the priority areas of trade, transport, communications and energy.
The Summit will also provide a useful opportunity for the ECO leaders to discuss bilateral matters and regional and international developments.
Pakistan is a founding member of ECO and has been playing an active role in it.
