Zapatero pledges to save state shipbuilder

Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero vowed on Sunday to forge a deal with unions to save state-run shipbuilder Izar, after EU authorities demanded the repayment of state aid which could bankrupt it.
"This will be a government which will save the shipbuilders," Zapatero told a rally in the northern Basque region after an unscheduled meeting with union leaders.
