Telecom deregulation is finally here. Award of various licenses under the new deregulation regime has translated into an air of expectation for all telecom subscribers in Pakistan.
In all this hype we need to analyse exactly what deregulation means for the masses who should be the true beneficiaries of telecom deregulation. For historical perspective, Pakistan Telecom Company Limited (PTCL) enjoyed a monopoly over provisioning of basic telephony services since creation of Pakistan. PTCL made immense contribution in this respect but a single entity cannot be expected to deliver with perfection when faced with resource constrains and exploding demands in a country like Pakistan.
Whenever demand for specific service outstripped resources of PTCL, that specific sector was opened for private investment. Each such initiative translated into a more competitive and healthy service environment for end users and by looking at the example of the internet we can see this.
PTCL was the pioneer but the sector was deregulated with award of licenses for various other operators and end-users benefited due to competitive rates and universal service availability.
PTCL still remains a major player in this segment but subscribers are reaping the benefits due to deregulation of this sector.
Same is the case for basic telephony services. PTCL delivered and improved its service officering over the years. However, it delivered with limited success as for as universal availability of this basic service is concerned.
We are all witness to the time when we had to wait several years to get a telephone connection and it was a cause of celebration for the whole community neighbourhood.
Now the situation has improved but it is far from satisfactory. More than 90% of our citizens are still denied access to telecom services. Deregulation is always focused on balancing the equation between the served and service providers.
WTL SERVICES - THE RIGHT CHOICE: Worldcall is the first to identify the immense opportunity being presented by deregulation of each telecom sector. Whether as an O&M partner for PTCL or an independent licensee from Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA), Worldcall has always been a pioneer in enhancing its services for the masses.
Already, everyone is aware of Worldcall prepaid calling card operations under the brand name of HELLO which means convenience of calling with hassle-free service.
Worldcall also holds leadership position for its payphone services which are spread all over Pakistan, providing telecom access for the masses. Worldcall is also a pioneer in provision of cutting edge multimedia services with its Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) network deployments in Lahore and Karachi.
With over a hundred thousand home passes already covered by the two networks, Cable Television and Internet Over Cable services are being provided with packaging of 80+ infotainment channels included in the basic service.
Worldcall Telecom Limited (WTL) has a consumer centric vision under the deregulated scenario. Worldcall understands the dynamics of basic telephony operations and has entered into the new scenario with a clear vision and focused approach for an assured competitive edge in its operations.
Worldcall has complete faith in its ability to deliver as per customer expectations and this new venture will not be any different.
Worldcall will address each segment's requirement with customised and competitive pricing to ensure that financial benefits of deregulated operations for WTL are equally shared with its customers.
In LDI operations, full choice of service subscription will be provided by the end-uses. Both prepaid and post-paid service subscription will be available at discounted rates.
In quality of service, WTL will exceed existing bench marks. Worldcall has ensured the qualitative edge on its competition by deploying a NGN solution of the highest available quality.
To date, no other existing or prospecting operator has committed to a network deployment comparable to WTL network capabilities. Worldcall Telecom will be able to interface with almost any vendor or operator for Interconnection purposes. International Long Distance Telephony Service also forms an integral part of the Worldcall soft switches installed at Lahore and Karachi.
The International connectivity has been planned at Karachi and Lahore through Satellite and optical fiber (Sea-Me-We) submarine cable with fully-optimised bandwidth usage. Dynamic jitter buffers, adaptive echo cancellation, silence suppression, best effort network and a QOS priority feature ensure 99.999% system availability.
Worldcall Telecom would be aggressively planning to expand its international connectivity links with further addition for direct connectivity to other countries.
Worldcall Telecom has acquired comprehensive yet flexible, modular and powerful billing system with an intelligent network environment that has ingredients of the next generation networks for all converged services offered.
The solution offers customer care and web-based self-help billing features converging services such as IP telephony, inter-carrier / clearing-house billing, cable TV, pay per view, interactive TV & Internet Over Cable and many more.
Worldcall customers will benefit through reduced/discounted rates for services and service adaptation customised to serve end-user needs.
