In a sudden move, the British Airways on Monday announced a steep reduction of over 35 percent in its Islamabad-London and return fare, lowering it from Rs 46,200 to Rs 29,999.
Describing it a special promotional fare, the British national flag-carrier said it will remain in force from October 1 till November 30 on its three flights from Islamabad.
In an official announcement of the airline, it will apply to the world traveller cabin. For the convenience of Karachi dwellers, the BA said it had launched a toll-free number - 0800-00128 - which will connect them directly with Islamabad.
The local travel agents believed that the special reduction was a pre-emptive measure against other competitors in the field and was aimed at capturing the Christmas and New Year traffic well in time.
There was no immediate reaction from other carriers, flying direct or via their home destinations to London.
