Allianz to publish board salaries

17 Sep, 2004

German insurance giant Allianz said Thursday that it had decided to break with tradition and make public the individual salaries of its board members.
The company said in a statement that the 2004 salaries of members of the board would be published at a news conference on March 17, 2005.
Allianz, like most major German companies, has restricted itself to releasing only the total pay envelope of all the board members combined.
The practice has been widely criticised in Germany and the government has even suggested introducing legislation to oblige companies to be transparent.
