Punjab University vice chancellor, Arshad Mahmood distributed certificates among the participants of Intensive Teacher Training Workshop arranged by Punjab University College of Information Technology (Pucit) on old campus on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the VC said that PU was the first public university in the IT field that had laid down more than 6.0km long fibre optic cable network in 2001. Over 2,200 state-of-the- art Pentium IV computers had been provided to all University Department for students.
He said those developments had inculcated computer culture among the students and staff. He said the Curriculum Advisory Board of the university had been helping the departments, institutes and centres in updating curricula according to the market needs, adding that every possible step was being taken to improve the quality and standard of education.
In order to produce competent IT professionals of international standard, he said the institution had started Ph.D. regular programme in the Pucit. He said the university had increased the number of scholarships to encourage and help students in the pursuit of education. He congratulated the organisers for holding this workshop.
