Saudi court jails academic for views on militants

A court in Saudi Arabia sentenced an Islamist academic to five years in jail on Sunday after convicting him of seeking to justify militant violence in the kingdom, lawyers said.
Saeed al-Zuair was detained in April after appearing on the Arabic satellite station Al Jazeera to discuss al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's offer of a temporary truce with Europe.
