'Change in LCCI is inevitable'

21 Sep, 2004

Chairman, The Founders at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Pervez Hanif has said that change in the LCCI is inevitable to revive the prestige of this premier institution of business community.
In a statement issued here on Monday Pervez urged the LCCI members to seriously review the performance of ruling alliance and compare it with that of the Founders in past.
While casting vote in the LCCI elections, one must consider the facts like defamation of LCCI on account of the case of electricity theft, compilation of disputed voters list by adding names of fake members and deleting genuine and real voters names from the list, he added.
Every one must know the irregularities and illegalities committed by the ruling group in a bid to manipulate the elections. In the decades-long history of the LCCI, the ruling alliance introduced dirty politics for the first time, which needs to be condemned, he maintained.
Expressing his concern over the attitude of chambers' staff, he alleged the sitting rulers encouraged involvement of chamber employees in politics, which was an exclusive domain of the chamber's members.
'If the Founders' candidates are voted into power, I assure that our team would not only come up to their expectations but the problems confronted by the traders and industrialists would also be resolved amicably', he concluded.-PR
