'Democratic institutions being strengthened'

Deputy Speaker National Assembly Sardar Muhammad Yaqub Khan has said that the present government has concentrated its special attention on brining political, industrial and economic stability in the country.
The government, he said was making strenuous efforts for promoting democracy at gross roots level and strengthening the democratic institutions in the country.
Addressing a public meeting in adjoining village Kube Chak on Monday he said that the government was mobilising all resources for banishing backwardness from the ignored and far-off areas of the country on top priority basis.
He further said that record development projects pertaining to public welfare have been completed under new local bodies system in the country.
Sardar Yaqub said: "The present government set-up of the country is working like a team and playing an instrumental role in the all round development of the country."
He said that it was President General Pervez Musharraf, who managed to introduce devolution of power programme for ensuring social justice to the masses at their doorstep as well as for producing leadership in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sher Afgan said that some anti-democratic forces were busy in creating chaos by raising the issue of "uniform" in the country.
"In fact, these elements are trying to create hindrance in the smooth democratic process in the country," he said.
Dr Sher Afgan said that all democratic institutions, including district governments, functioning successfully and were playing pivotal role for the betterment of the common man in the country.
About the functioning of district governments he said that these institutions were working as nurseries of democracy in the country.
He said that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had concentrated its attention on further strengthening the national economic and political stability in the country.
The present government, he said was utilising huge resources for providing facilities, like Sui gas, tele-communication and road network in remote and neglected rural areas on top priority basis.
Addressing the meeting provincial Minister for Special Education Ms. Qudsia Lodhi said that the present regime was making adequate efforts for bringing political and economic constancy in the country.
She strongly criticised the elements that were busy in fanning the issue of uniform and said that such people had hoodwinked the masses with empty slogans during their tenures.
Member National Assembly Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, in her address of welcome, said that all-out efforts were being made for banishing the backwardness from rural areas of Sialkot district.
District Nazim Sialkot Mian Naeem Javed, Sialkot Tehsil Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, the Deputy Speaker National Assembly and Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs along with Dr Firdous Awan inaugurated the Sui gas, link road and expansion of telephone exchange projects in the area.
