Overall cotton crop situation in various areas of the Punjab province is satisfactory, a press release said here on Tuesday.
With a view to reviewing cotton crop situation, a meeting of the Punjab Agriculture Department was held under the Chairmanship of Provincial Secretary Agriculture Arif Nadeem, the sources said.
According to the release Director Pest Warning and Pesticides Quality Control Dr Ejaz Pervaiz presented a detailed report on the latest information regarding presence of pest in various crop areas.
At present, the pest presence was under control but in some areas army worm and American bollworm were likely to flare up because their eggs and larvae have been noted. However, the intensity of pest attack was quite low and situation totally under control, the report said.
During the meeting district agriculture officers briefed the participants about current crop situation.
Secretary agriculture in his address advised the district agriculture officers to educate and help the farmers to properly look after their cotton crops.-PR
