SBP to allow BoK to open Islamic banking branches

The State bank of Pakistan Islamic Banking Director Pervez Saeed in a meeting with NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani here on Tuesday night, assured State Bank of Pakistan would issue license to Bank of Khyber (BoK) for opening Islamic banking branches in Bannu and Nowshera districts.
The State Bank, he continued, had also approved Bank of Khyber Islamic banking branches in Quetta, Balochistan, he said, NWFP had the potential for Islamic banking and with the passage of time more branches would be opened in the province. He appreciated MMA government efforts for introducing Islamic banking system.
The Chief Minister on the occasion said MMA government was committed to implement Islamic laws and Islamic banking system in the province.
