Tribal elders belonging to Qambarkhel tribe of Khyber Agency while rejecting the ongoing election for the tribal councils demanded of the NWFP governor to conduct free and impartial election of these councils and stop political agents from their interference in the election process.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Wazir Akbar Khan, with support of other elders of Qambarkhel tribe, expressed his dissatisfaction over the election process of the tribal council and said only those were succeeded in the election that had the support of political agent of Khyber Agency.
Tribal elders alleged that political agent had conducted the election on his own well, without following any rule or procedure for it. " The election was conducted without asking for the opinion of our people and we were given no chance to show our majority," he claimed.
He expressing reservation about the counting of voters and said "despite our asking for the identification, every one was counted in the count no matter he was from QambarKhel or from outside. We wanted that only those should be counted who have national identity cards or any other proof that shows their belonging to the tribe but PA refused and counted many outsiders, just to favour his man," he told.
The tribesmen, he said, wants free and partial election that could only be held if there would be impartial people to conduct it. He further said it would be impossible under PA therefore Governor must conduct it with the help of impartial people.
