Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Zubair Ahmed Malik has said that Islamabad badly needed a new industrial zone to absorb more industries in it in future.
He said that the Islamabad-based traders had raised the issue with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz during a meeting.
He was addressing a group of traders during his visit to the site of Sangjani industrial estate.
The ICCI chief said that the existing Industrial Zone of Islamabad had reached a saturation point and a new industrial area in the vicinity of Islamabad should be planned in order to promote industrialisation. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz readily agreed and asked the CDA to plan a new industrial estate in collaboration with the ICCI.
CDA Member Planning Brigadier Nasrullah and his colleagues along with Mian Akram Farid, Chairman, ICCI Founder Group, Zubair Ahmed Malik and a few prominent businessmen visited a couple of sites at Sangjani and reviewed the prospects for establishing a new industrial estate.
The CDA plans to submit its recommendations to the authorities concerned. Malik said that this action of the CDA would greatly stimulate investment for industrialisation by Pakistani businessmen.
