Member of the British Parliament Paul Goodman has said a breakthrough was expected of the ongoing Pak-India talks to resolve all outstanding issues specially Kashmir.
He was talking to newsmen at the PWD Rest House here on Tuesday evening along with member of the European Union Parliament James Elles and former AJK Prime Minister, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry during their daylong visit of Mirpur district.
Goodman continued as saying: "the 60-year old Kashmir problem is required to be resolved through the composite dialogue between Pakistan and India besides the full involvement of the Kashmiri people - the major party to the lingering dispute". He welcomed the Pak-India dialogue process.
Responding to a question the member British Parliament called upon the Indian Government to speed up the process for giving Kashmiris their right to self-determination.
On the occasion member of the European Union Parliament and Chairman All Parties Kashmir Committee in the European Union, James Elles declared that the European Union might perform as arbitrator to facilitate both Pakistan and Indian efforts for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
He observed that visible signs seemed appearing of the positive outcome of the ongoing peace process by both Pakistan and India.
He said that a fact finding mission, comprising members of the European Union had submitted the report to the European Commission highlighting the current situation of occupied Kashmir with the recommendation for early peaceful solution of the core issue.
James Alles said that the European Union was expecting from the new government in India the real progress in respect of the early settlement of Kashmir issue.
He said that leaders from both sides were willing for the early peaceful solution of Kashmir dispute and expecting the role of international community including the European Union. He also endorsed the proposed Muzaffarabad-Srinagar Bus Service to enable the reunification of the divide Kashmiris inhibiting at either side of the Line of Control (LoC) but according to the entire will of Kashmiris.
