All Pakistan Textile Mills Association has requested the Income Tax Commissioner, Special Zone Karachi, to nominate a senior officer for catering to the day-to-day problems of Aptma members. The request was made during the visit of Irfan Nadeem, Commissioner Income Tax, Special Zone Karachi and other high officials to Aptma House, Karachi.
Irfan said that a 'facilitation centre' has recently been constituted for providing better services to the taxpayers.
Mushtaq Vohra, Chairman, Taxation, Aptma, pointed out that the taxpayers were often asked to get the outstation payment challans verified from different regional offices of Income Tax. He suggested that it should be the responsibility of the local office, given the fact that the taxpayers had duly submitted the original payment challan.
Vohra requested that audits being undertaken under Universal Self-Assessment Scheme this year should be completed before the time of filing of the returns for the current tax year.
He further said that the taxpayers that submit audited accounts, which show all necessary details of sales, purchases, expenses should, on principle, not be subjected to provide the similar details. He informed that tax-payers like Aptma members are still filing returns of 2-30 pages who expect it to be not more than one page in presence of their audited accounts prepared with full disclosure in compliance of International Accounting Standards.
The Commissioner suggested to Aptma members to fill the information correctly on their returns. He extended help in correct filing of Income Tax Returns. Nadeem emphasised that due tax should be paid along with the return by September 30.
