Founder Group wins ICCI election

The Founder Group won the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ICCI) election held here on Saturday.
The elections were held in a pleasant atmosphere. Founder Group and United Alliance had field their candidates. Nasir Khan was appointed Returning Officer.
According to the Returning Officer the candidates of Founder Group, Tariq Sadiq got 231 votes, Abdul Rauf 233 Votes, Jamal Abdul Nasir 217 votes and Asad Rashid 225 votes.
Chairman, Founder Group Akram Farid congratulated successful candidates and traders and industrialists of Islamabad for voting in favour of his group.
Zubair Ahmed, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), addressing a large gathering of traders and industrialists said that he did his duty to hold elections in transparent atmosphere. He added that he was associated with executive committed and senior members and worked for the business community.
United Alliance rejected the elections results. Its leader Shahid Rashid Butt termed the elections as pre-rigged and vowed that his group would follow the course of law to defeat his opponents.
According to Shahid, "it's the court of law which would decide" the fate of these controversial elections since matter was already pending with the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench for hearing.
In a statement, Rana Saeed of Alliance Group accused Founder Group of massive rigging and violation of elections rules. He said that Alliance Group will keep on fighting against Founder Group at all forums.
