Nazim, City District Peshawar Azam Khan Afridi has said that construction work of modern bus terminal would be started shortly. The new bus terminal would be largest in the Asia with arrangement of underground bus parking.
The district Nazim was addressing a function after laying the foundation stone of the Newspapers' Market in Peshawar. The function was attended by a large number of Akhbar Farosh and journalist communities of Peshawar. Central president, All Pakistan Akhbar Farosh Federation, Tika Khan was also present on the occasion.
The City District Nazim said that the modern bus terminal of Peshawar would have 76 gates from where commuters would travel to 76 districts of the country. Similarly, he said that work on the construction of flyover at Rehman Square would be inaugurated in next few days and would complete within a short period of eight to nine months.
He said that after election as District Nazim of the provincial metropolis, he has set aside his long political affiliations to pay full attention towards the services of the people. He said that he had never remained aloof of the development of the city and has always considered the slot a sacred trust of the people, saying that he would spend every single penny on the welfare and development of the Peshawarites.
Afridi informed the audience that the work on the establishment of Recreation Park in the historical building has been completed and would be opened for general public from next month. He said that the opening of the park would provide recreation facilities to the people at their doorsteps.
He said that City District Government of Peshawar is first one among the four provincial headquarters, which handed over the land to Akhbar Farosh Union without receiving a single penny from them. However, he suggested the union that instead of constructing kiosks they should go for establishment of permanent shops.
In this connection, he said that the district government would prepare the proposed markets by a foreign architect engineer to construct a beautiful and attractive place for them. He said that the district government would always extend its helping hands towards the union.
