Labour party holds demonstration against 'uniform'

A large number of workers and activities of the Labour Party Pakistan held a peaceful protest demonstration in front of the Lahore Press Club on Sunday against President's uniform. They demanded of President Musharraf to doff uniform in the larger interest of the nation.
Led by Labour Party Secretary General Farooq Tariq, the demonstrators were carrying placards and banners inscribed with the slogans, "Go Musharraf go", "Musharraf Doff uniform", etc. They also chanted slogans against US President Bush.
Addressing on the occasion, Labour Party Secretary General Farooq Tariq, Joint Secretary Nazli Javed, Information Secretary Javed Iqbal Bhatti, Punjab Chapter Chairman Chaudhry Imtiaz Ahmed and General Secretary Afzal Soroya said that President Musharraf had not kept his promise to quit as army chief, adding: "We will never accept him as President in uniform."
They announced that the Labour Party has started a countrywide campaign against the 'uniform' and on Sunday the party besides Lahore also held protest at Hyderabad.
